I have pleasure in submitting my second annual report as the District Grand Prior of Strathclyde.
2010 being the Centenary of the Consecration of the District Grand Priory we have had an extremely busy year.
During the year we conducted our Annual Visitations and attended the Installations Musters of all 16 Preceptories. On each occasion we were warmly welcomed and I am pleased to report that at the Annual Visitation to each Preceptory the grade work was carried out to a high standard for which I congratulate the Preceptors and their Officers on their efforts. The District Grand Secretary and District Grand Treasurer examined the administrative books of each Preceptory and reported that, in general, a high standard was being maintained in recording of the minutes and accounts of the Preceptories.
It is worthy of note that again 13 of the 16 Preceptories carried out their own Installations, of the other 3, one was assisted by Past Preceptors of other Preceptories, with the other 2 carried out by the District Officers and I am glad to say that all the Installations were performed to the high standard which we are becoming accustomed to witnessing.
I am pleased that all the Preceptoies in Strathclyde, including the District Grand Priory, have updated their Bye-Laws and all now comply with the current Statutes of the Great Priory of Scotland.
We were honoured on three occasions to have the presence of the Most Eminent and Reverend Grand Master, M.E.& Rev Fr. David A.C. Niven, CSt.J, FSA Scot. PP. GCT., accompanied by Grand Officers at celebrations within the District.
Firstly on the 24th April, at the 25th year Rededication of the Preceptory of Strathkelvin carried out by myself, assisted by the District Grand Prelate, Em Fr. John Milgrew, the District Grand Secretary, Em. Fr. Thomas Wilson, and the District Grand Mareschal, V.Fr. Robert Stanfield.
I extend my thanks to the Fratres of the Preceptory of Strathkelvin for the warmth of their welcome and the hospitality extended to all in attendance on that occasion.
Secondly on the 16th May, on the occasion of our District Divine Service held in Glasgow Cathedral. I thank all who attended this important day of worship in our yearly Kalander, and offer my sincere thanks to Rev. Dr. Laurence Whitley, and Rev. John K. Clark M.B.E. for their services.
I thank the Fratres of the Preceptory of St. John Glasgow for the use of their amenities and for looking after our members, ladies, and guests at the refectory, on behalf of the District,
Thirdly, on the 18th September at the occasion of the Centenary Re-Dedication of the District Grand Priory of Strathclyde which was conducted and performed to a very high standard for which the M.E. & Rev. Grand Master and his Grand Officers are to be congratulated, I am confident that all of the approximate 180 Fraters present thoroughly
appreciated the ceremonial carried out. After the Ceremony of Re-Dedication the Grand Master graciously consented to Consecrate the new District Banner which had been donated by a Frater of the District Grand Priory.
With over 120 Fraters and guests remaining for Refectory it was indeed a memorable and enjoyable day, as everyone knows that these events do not just happen I tender my sincere thanks to all who participated in making this event so successful.
Out with our general duties concerning the District of Strathclyde we have been attended various events taking place in our Sister Districts as listed below.

Accompanied by Officers of the District I attended the Divine Services of the District of Fourth Valley, the District of Dumfries and Galloway, and the District of Ayrshire.
On each of the occasions listed above we were warmly welcomed by the respective District Grand Priors and members of our Sister Districts, I thank them for the hospitality extended to us and look forward to being in their company at some future time.
Throughout the year I have received and been honoured to accept invitations to represent the District Grand Priory.
On the 19th March I attended the Annual Grand Superintendent’s Dinner of the Provincial Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Lanarkshire Middle Ward.
On the 10th April I represented the District Grand Priory at the Installation of MEC Ian Muir as the Grand Superintendent of the Provincial Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Glasgow.
On the 12th November I represented the District Grand Priory at the Grand Superintendent of Glasgow’s Annual Dinner.
I thank both, MEC James Turnbull, MEC Ian Muir, the companions of Lanarkshire Middle Ward and of Glasgow for their invitations, the warmth of their welcome and the hospitality extended to me on the above occasions, I hope that the bond of fraternal friendship will continue to be nurtured and shown throughout all our Masonic Orders.
Regretfully during the year a number of Fratres from Strathclyde have passed away all of whom will be sadly missed by their nearest and dearest, many of them much respected in other Orders and who will be especially missed in our Order and in their respective Preceptories.
