Visit from North & East Yorkshire

On Saturday 12 October 2013, a deputation from Salebeia Preceptory No 452, supported by Knights from other Preceptories in the Province of North & East Yorkshire, were received by Ven Fr Euan Kerr and the Fratres of Strathkelvin Preceptory in Kirkintilloch. There was a total of 14 in the demonstration team, including Ven Fr Eric Brown, the IPP of Strathkelvin who is also a PP of Salebeia; R Em Kt Paul Darley, the Provincial Prior for North & East Yorkshire, Em Kt Adrian Carpenter PP of Salebeia who acted as Preceptor on the day and Em Kt Richard Parsons who acted as the candidate.

Including the demonstration team, there were 70 Fratres in attendance including visitors from Fife (including R Em Fr Sabatto Gallo, DGP)  and Forth Valley (including Em Fr Matthew Fry, DG Secretary) as well as many from the District of Strathclyde. Whilst the ceremony of admission of an aspirant under Great Priory of England tells pretty much the same story as that practiced under GPoS, the manner in which it is done is completely different and the demonstration was favourably received by all who were in attendance.

There are already suggestions that a team from Strathkelvin (with support from anyone else who wants to) may be invited south to perform a demonstration of our ceremony. This will be progressed when the appropriate permissions have been sought and granted.

Pictured is the demonstration team, with Gavin Wardrope, the Right Eminent Grand Constable of the Great Priory in the centre. The District Grand Priory of Strathclyde was represented by Em Fr Robert Stewart, District Grand Seneschal.

St Mungo Bicentenary

The Bicentenary of the Preceptory and Priory of St Mungo was celebrated with an especial Muster held on Saturday 13 September 2013 at Partick Burgh Halls.

A large number of Fratres were in attendance for the ceremony of rededication carried out by Officers of Great Priory, headed by Most Eminent Frater Kenneth D Kennedy, Past Grand Master.

VISIT TO NORTH AND EAST YORKSHIRE

Following the  visit by Knights of North & East Yorkshire to Strathkelvin in October 2013, Strathkelvin visited Salebeia Preceptory on Saturday 23 May and demonstrated the Scottish KT Grade. There were 14 in the Demonstration team including R E Fra Robert Stewart, District Grand Prior, and R E Fra James Pettigrew KCT, Past District Grand Prior. Ven Fra Alexander McLauchlan carried out the demonstration assisted by D Balfour, J Milgrew, E Brown, G Walker, N Spike, J Mackay, R McWhannell, B Grieve and T Lloyd who acted as aspirant. John MacAlpine, District Constable and Andrew Neil, Past District Sub-Prior were also in attendance.

A total of 65 knights and fraters were present from Scotland, and the Provinces of North & East Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. The team were welcomed by Em Kt Neil Smith, the Preceptor of Salebeia and by R Em Kt Paul Darley, Provincial Prior. The muster was held in Hull as the accommodation at Selby (Salebeia is the Latin for Selby) would have been somewhat cramped.

For those who missed the English visit in 2013, The Preceptory of St Bernard de Clairvaux (Scotland’s Preceptory of Research) are hosting a demonstration of the English KT ceremony to be carried out by members of the Provincial Prior of Northumberland’s Bodyguard on Saturday 1 August at 2.00pm. The Muster will be held at the premises of Lodge Newbattle St Mary, Newtongrange.. Further information can be obtained from Ven Fra Alexander Sives, the Secretary. Alexandersives hotmail.com.
